Residents say repeated gunfire has sent bullets into homes; request meeting with patrol

Residents from the Lakes at Plantation Pines told the council during public comment that repeated target shooting and stray bullets have damaged property and put neighbors at risk.
"But in those 5 years, we've had 7 instances," resident Catherine Story said, describing a March 1 shot that passed through a dining room wall and a March 31 projectile that struck a column and fence. Kelly Gredhouse, introduced during the comment period, said calls to police have produced reports but little follow-up and that neighbors are "scared to even walk along the South border." The presenters urged county leaders to meet with patrol leaders and explore increased enforcement, trail cameras or other deterrents.
County staff and patrol supervisors offered an offline meeting with residents and a suggested follow-up with Lieutenant Hunt to review reports and possible responses. The chair noted constraints under state law limiting arrests without an officer witnessing the act, but county patrol leadership agreed to meet with the residents and to discuss practical options for mitigation, including targeted patrols and equipment options.
