The motion, moved by Bob Geddeis and seconded by Eric Flohr, carried unanimously.
Trustees also approved a slate of athletics and facilities purchases and projects. The board authorized two towable aluminum grandstands from Carroll Seating, Inc. for $227,308.68, an installation quote for a softball batting cage through Team REIL Inc. not to exceed $58,000, and the purchase of batting cage materials from BSN Sports for $26,383.49. In facilities work, the board approved a switchgear installation quote from McGilva Electric for $40,726.18 and a GFI replacement quote from Aero Electric & Communications Co. for $10,740.00. A motion was approved to solicit bids for greenhouse polycarbonate panel replacement and for a drywell replacement in the northwest parking lot.
“These projects are being recommended by the Building & Grounds Committee,” the board minute notes state; votes on the items were unanimous. The approvals follow committee review and were presented during the board meeting in Rockton, where trustees said the projects address life-safety and operational needs.
Next steps include formal contract execution and, where required, bidding per Illinois procurement rules. The minutes reference compliance with 105 ILCS 5/10-20.21(xi) in the quoted switchgear action.
