Stonington approves $26,263 replacement for main sewer pump; TIF funds to be used

Superintendent Jake Heberling told the board the main lift-station pump that feeds the town and sends flow to the sewer plant failed about three weeks before the Nov. 4 meeting. Heberling said the remaining pump has a bad seal and, because the spare dates back to 1987, rebuilding was not recommended; he and President Bruce Dowdy approved purchasing a new pump priced at $26,263.00.
Heberling reported the replacement pump is expected to arrive in 16–20 weeks and noted the expense can be paid from the village TIF district funds. The minutes record the purchase approval; the board did not specify a schedule for keeping an on-hand backup pump at the meeting.
