County approves new solid-waste assessments for 2025 and sets tire-disposal limit

Public Works Director Chris Smith and Road Supervisor Joe Mullen presented the county's proposed solid-waste fee schedule for 2025. Commissioner Carla Grund, who reviewed the mid-year assessments, recommended rates of $140.00 for residential customers, $240.00 for commercial non-tonnage accounts and $64.00 per ton for tonnage-billed commercial customers.
The board approved the proposed rates by voice vote, 3-0. Smith also recommended a 50-tire limit for the county's free tire disposal event scheduled for October; commissioners agreed that a 50-tire limit would be appropriate. Smith reported all three tractors and mowing decks recently purchased have been delivered and the county will demo a new machine with the vendor carrying insurance during the demo.
Smith also outlined upcoming bridge and road projects; no detailed funding allocations were adopted at the meeting beyond the fee assessments.
