Bryan Breese of the Bennington Rural Fire District asked the commission for permission to place emergency lights on his newly purchased personal truck; he said he had lights on his previous vehicle. Commissioner Carla Grund said the county should adopt a consistent policy governing emergency lights on privately owned vehicles used by fire districts.
The commission reached consensus to consult the County Attorney before adopting any rules. Sheriff Russell Thornton later voiced concerns about the practice and recommended that any allowance be written into a formal resolution or policy before implementation.
