More than a dozen arts and tourism applicants ask the ATAX committee for promotion and program support

Sharron Chonev from Musica Festival requested $25,000 to support the festival and national artist recruitment; Shannon Farah of Long Bay Symphony outlined concert costs of $40,000-$50,000 per classical performance and highlighted youth and sensory-friendly programs.
Organizers argued that these cultural events attract out-of-state attendees, support hospitality-sector spending and provide educational opportunities. Committee members thanked presenters and noted the committee will balance arts and public-safety funding needs when making recommendations at the second reading.
