Alderman Weber said the Parks and Recreation Committee will host a Back to School Bash/Movie in the Park on Aug. 28 in collaboration with the Hometown Library, with several food trucks and inflatables planned. The library has a story walk installed and a book discussion scheduled for Aug. 27; about 40 people are signed up for the summer reading program.
Alderman Grochowski and Chief Dominguez listed additional upcoming events: the Torch Run on Aug. 1, National Night Out on Aug. 4 at Patterson Park, a pancake breakfast on July 27 and a car show on Aug. 15. The council also heard about a VFW Dinner Dance and a $10,000 drawing on Aug. 8.
