Public Works: fallen tree response, Nicor work, Kolmar resurfacing and zip-line welds discussed

Public Works Director Mark Trlak updated the council on recent field operations and upcoming street projects, thanking police officers who assisted with an early-morning fallen tree on Southwest Highway and acknowledging several crew members by name for their work.
"I have a wonderful crew," Trlak said while listing staff and noting he removed the downed tree before IDOT arrived. He added that the street sweeper and branch pick-up are ongoing, Nicor utility work will restart, and the Kolmar resurfacing bid is scheduled with work to begin in the next four weeks — the program will include resurfacing 90th Place. Trlak also said welds on a zip line were found to be bad after two inspections and that he intends to obtain a third bid.
The council did not take immediate contract action at the meeting; Trlak indicated further procurement steps are pending.
