Trustee Kathy urged the board to consider a standalone artificial-intelligence policy, saying other districts and webinar leaders recommended a separate AI policy in addition to existing rules. She referenced district policies "5,426 dash e" on acceptable use and "5,550" on privacy and security and said AI is coming into classrooms and should be governed explicitly.
Kathy said access is important for competitive programs: "for RISE and RISE Tech ... for us to really compete seriously nationally, we our students need access to it." She said she will share sample policies and source materials with trustees and recommended the board discuss the matter at a future meeting.
