Hometown police report $25,000 camera grant, upcoming events and DUI ranking

Chief Lou Dominguez reported to the council that the Hometown Police Department received a $25,000 camera grant to update cameras in and around the building and that staff are pursuing a hiring grant. He said the department continues fundraising for the Special Olympics and listed upcoming community events, including the Torch Run on Aug. 1 and National Night Out on Aug. 4 at Patterson Park.
Dominguez also noted the department ranked 83rd in the state for DUI on the Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists website and said Commander Haubenreiser made 33 DUI arrests last year.
