Assigned Counsel reports 55 March arraignments, $452,614 in first-quarter vouchers submitted

Lloyd Hoskins, representing Assigned Counsel, presented March 2026 caseload and cost figures to the Judicial & Public Safety Committee. He reported there were 55 arraignments at the Centralized Arraignment Program (CAP) in March; of those, 33 defendants (60%) were released (ROR) and 22 (40%) were held on bail or for other reasons. Hoskins said attorney costs associated with CAP for March totaled $10,990.00 and were paid from an Indigent Legal Services (ILS) grant.
Hoskins also reported 83 Counsel at First Appearance in Auburn City Court and 13 in town/village courts, with associated attorney costs of $11,476.00 for March. He said the Assigned Counsel office made assignments across county courts and family court and has submitted $452,614.08 in first-quarter vouchers to New York State Indigent Legal Services for reimbursement.
