Commission finds protests insufficient for 8th & 27th street improvement district; resolution adopted

Jerrick told the commission the district covers reconstruction work with about $4,000,000 in federal funds and that the protest period produced only one protesting property owner (a 1.1% protest rate). “It's our recommendation to determine this protest rate to be insufficient,” he said. Commissioners had brief technical questions about the scope (chip seal, patching, drainage) and confirmed that homeowner notification costs were included in the project estimate.
Commissioner Heintschau moved to approve the resolution determining protests insufficient, with Commissioner Belavik seconding. The commission approved the resolution by roll call; staff said design amendments and bidding are expected later this year with construction targeted for the next season.
