Misty Wood opened the update by noting National Night Out activities with police and fire at Dick’s Sporting Goods from 5–8 p.m. and encouraged attendance. She listed scheduled volunteer opportunities: a park‑a‑month volunteer shift at Rincon Valley Community Park on Aug. 8 (9 a.m.–12 p.m.), a creek cleanup at Prince Memorial Greenway on Aug. 15 (meet at Olive Park Footbridge near 1698 Hazel Street at 10 a.m.; sign‑up at srcity.org/calendar), and the rural cemetery preservation committee’s monthly volunteer workday on Aug. 15 (9 a.m.–12 p.m.).
Wood also reminded listeners that Live at Julliard runs Sundays through Aug. 16 downtown and that district‑based community meetings with councilmembers and advisory board members begin Aug. 26 at Montgomery High School from 6:30–8 p.m. She closed by inviting questions; none were raised.
