Several committee and staff reports were presented at the July 6 meeting. Public Works Director Matt Kahl reported significant storm cleanup work, estimated utility bills during meter-read disruption (to be trued up on the next billing), Veterans Park maintenance for Concerts in the Park and installation of an Effigy Mound sign. Electrical Superintendent Meier said Mills Street lighting poles have been delivered and installation should begin in August; recent storm outages were restored within roughly six hours.
The Library Board report (provided by Nathan Cavanagh on behalf of the director) noted that the library is looking to hire one or two pages and another part-time librarian; expansion planning is scheduled for August. Mitch Hodson said the EMS Committee finalized a lot purchase June 18 despite not all municipalities committing; the committee expects another meeting this week. President Moyer said the Historical Society raised questions about property around the depot and he will refer the matter to the Plan Commission.
