Greenwood County appointed new and reappointed members to the accommodations tax advisory committee to comply with South Carolina law requiring a seven‑member body when annual accommodations tax revenue exceeds $50,000.
Miss Doran, the county treasurer and assistant county manager for finance, explained the statutory composition (two lodging, two hospitality, one cultural organization representative and two at‑large members) and recommended reappointments and nominees including Ned Baldwin (Comfort Inn/Quality Inn), Howard Corley (hospitality representative), Stephen Harrington (hospitality) and Mary Catherine McArthur (arts organization). "We would ask that you go ahead and appoint the members that we have recommended and potentially bring back two recommendations for our next meeting in two weeks," she said. Council approved the recommendations unanimously and asked staff to continue outreach for the remaining lodging and at‑large seats.
