Commissioners approve sheriff's building and jail repipe funding carryovers ahead of FY27

Amy Cooper, chief financial officer for the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, told the board the agency is asking the county to reflect unrecorded carryover and increased project costs so they will be properly accounted for in next year's CIE. "There is no financial impact to fiscal year 26," Cooper said, adding the agency currently administers several capital projects and expects many to be completed before the CIE review in January 2027.
County staff and the administrator explained an inadvertent omission in carryforward amounts created a larger-than-intended funding need for the new administration building and additional drainage required by the Indian River Farms water district permit. County counsel and public works staff noted the administration building carryforward should reflect $20,400,000 (previously shown as $12,700,000) plus approximately $2,200,000 for drainage; commissioners moved to amend the current CIE so the figures would be placeholders for next year's budget process and the motion passed unanimously.
