City manager: Rec Center closed for maintenance Sept. 7–Aug. 30; National Night Out set for Aug. 4

The city manager (speaker 6) updated council on recent and upcoming city operations: multiple shooting events at the outdoor range drew dozens of participants, the National Night Out event is scheduled for Aug. 4 at Bridal Park from 5 to 8 p.m. with a free barbecue and first-responder participation, and the Rollins (transcription alternately spells the city name) Rec Center will close Aug. 30 through Sept. 7 for seasonal cleaning and maintenance and reopen Sept. 8 with weekend hours resuming after Labor Day. "The Rec Center will reopen on Tuesday, September 8 with weekend hours resuming after Labor Day," the manager said.
Staff also reported that the booster-station final design has been submitted to DEQ for permitting and that the pedestrian underpass on the 287 bypass is nearing completion; staff said they plan a ribbon-cutting once final completion and coordination with YDOT is finished. The city attorney later noted YDOT leadership changes may delay naming and ribbon-cutting plans by a few weeks.
