Town staff summarized the annual review of Richmond’s code of ethics, noting that the state adopted a new statewide code and the select board adjusted it for Richmond. Staff explained that commissioners must read the code, complete an online acknowledgement form (which will be recorded by the clerk), and watch a training video once every three years to receive a certificate.
"There's also requirements to read the code of ethics, sign the acknowledgment form, and send that back in," staff said, explaining where the PDF and online forms can be found on the town website. The presentation covered conflicts of interest, prohibited conduct such as accepting gifts, incompatibility of offices, and the complaint and enforcement process.
