City administration recommended reallocating funds budgeted for a new City Hall copier toward IT cleanup and security work following a recent security incident. Staff told the council that copier proposals had ranged from about $3,000 to $6,000 and suggested that spending be deferred so those monies could be repurposed for IT services and remediation.
Council members supported the idea and agreed to defer the copier purchase pending investigation recommendations. Separately, because the city clerk and other staff will be on vacation and packets could not be completed in time, the council voted to cancel the Aug. 26 regular meeting and resume its schedule in September. "Motion to cancel council meeting on 08/26," was moved and seconded and the council carried the cancellation by voice vote.
