Planning Board begins update of Land Use chapter, will review Rural Zone and conservation mapping

Mike Tardiff reviewed the town’s 2018 Master Plan land-use map and told the Planning Board the group will review chapter objectives and uses allowed in the Rural Zone over the next meetings. He said the board should incorporate conservation land acquired since the prior plan and update maps and content accordingly.
"The goal for the fall is to have the public hearing for the Housing and Land Use chapters," Tardiff said, providing a near-term schedule for the board’s public review. Board members agreed to continue substantive review in future meetings rather than take immediate votes.
The update will include mapping changes to reflect recently conserved parcels and a targeted review of permitted uses in rural areas to ensure the Master Plan guidance matches current conservation and land-management priorities.
