Community honors retiring Sheriff Sam Page; Captain Jennifer Brown thanks colleagues at meeting

County Manager Lance Messler presented a recognition for Sheriff Samuel S. Page, recounting Page’s 28 years in law enforcement, prior service as a K‑9 handler in the U.S. Air Force, seven elected terms as sheriff since 1998, leadership roles in the North Carolina Sheriffs’ Association and participation on national committees.
"Sheriff Samuel S. Page is recognized for 28 years on the occasion of his retirement from the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office and for service to Rockingham County," Messler said, citing programs Page supported including DARE, school resource officers, Operation Medicine Drop, placing AEDs in patrol cars and distributing Narcan to deputies.
During the public comment period, Captain Jennifer Brown, who said she has served with the sheriff’s office since 1994 and resides in Reidsville, told the board she wanted to thank her coworkers and to encourage them amid negativity. "I want them to know that I care. I will continue to care... I want them to be strong," Brown said. Commissioners and the chair offered congratulations to Page and Brown and thanked law enforcement personnel in attendance.
