NCDOT staff displayed a color‑coded map showing recommended bicycle accommodations (yellow), pedestrian accommodations (purple), combined bike/ped facilities (green) and longer multiuse paths (brown) aimed at improving town‑to‑town connections and access to parks.
"There's about 200 bike compad projects," Emily Stepka said, and the presentation singled out multiuse greenways that would connect towns and parks. Stepka noted two small changes that occurred during municipal adoptions — a sidewalk addition to connect Downtown Madison to a Dollar General and a sidewalk extension in Reidsville to improve access to a Walmart across a bridge — and said those will be reflected in the packet for the Aug. 17 meeting.
