Franklin County approves revenue-neutral 2027 budget

The public hearing on the budget was opened and no members of the public spoke. After closing the hearing, the board moved to approve the budget "as presented." The motion was seconded (the record shows a second by Commissioner Saldemeyer) and the board recorded unanimous approval.
The presenter and commissioners noted the county is relying on a mix of dedicated funds and outside grants to cover capital projects and maintain services without increasing the county's total levy. The presenter highlighted that, over roughly a decade, the county's mill levy has declined from 62.92 mills to about 42.803 mills, a change he described as just over a 32% decrease.
The board adjourned following the vote. No further actions or follow-up hearings were announced at the meeting.
