The Select Board voted Aug. 3 to sign an intermunicipal agreement (IMA) enabling Northern Construction, Duxbury’s contractor, to complete the final 50 feet of seawall that continues across the Duxbury–Marshfield town line. Project engineer Pat Brennan told the board that the IMA avoids a weak link at the town line and saved both towns bidding and cutting costs, explaining that Marshfield will pay Northern directly for its portion of work done within Marshfield.
Brennan said Marshfield’s internal approvals delayed the IMA for more than a year but that Marshfield’s select board has now signed and the town’s payment will be released once Duxbury executes the document. A board member asked about a December 2025 completion date shown in the draft; Brennan said the physical wall construction was completed previously and the IMA now formalizes payment and closing of accounts. The board approved the IMA by vote.
