At the July 1 meeting the County Administrator and health staff provided operational updates covering multiple areas. Administration noted building-project updates, Board of Health activity (meeting June 18) and a pending need to replace Board member Dr. Chaudhry. Staff said the Health Department 'came out whole' from the recent state budget and discussed a Rural Health Transformation Program grant application (CDC-related) with a state allocation of $212 million; grant application materials for that program were due July 18, 2026.
Staff also reported a NYSDOH family health program site visit on June 24, and ongoing discussion about a possible visit by the NYS Commissioner of Health later in summer or fall. Jail medical staff are working with Wyoming County Community Health Services on the feasibility of implementing an electronic medical records system in the jail; a scheduled SCOC site visit for the MAT program was also noted. The minutes record a coroner retirement activity (Michael Smith NYS Retirement Record of Activities complete).
