The Orleans Town Council moved to accept Nicholas (Nick) Randolph into the town’s fire department.
Council members noted Randolph currently works as a jailer and is eager to begin training. A department official said Randolph will take CPR training immediately, attend an EMR class starting Monday, and begin fire 1 and 2 in March. "After this class, everybody on the department will be medical certified in one way, shape, or form," the official said. The council approved his acceptance by voice vote.
Officials said that, after the scheduled classes, the department will have six certified firefighters unless additional hires occur.
