The Orleans Town Council approved the appointment of Drew Henderson as assistant town marshal following the retirement of Warren McFarland.
A motion to appoint Drew as assistant town marshal was made and seconded; the Chair called for the ayes and the motion passed. A council member praised Henderson’s performance, saying he had “done an outstanding job since he's been here” and is familiar with law enforcement because he comes from a law-enforcement family. The council also moved to set starting pay for the assistant marshal and to revisit the pay after 90 days; during the meeting the starting-pay phrase was recorded as, "1000 $8 or whatever it was," with the motion to review again after 90 days.
Council members arranged for a picture and informal swearing; the appointment is effective immediately.
