The Mount Carroll City Council unanimously approved routine business and several spending items at its March 24 meeting. Alderman Jeff Elliott moved to approve the minutes of the March 10, 2026 regular meeting, and the motion carried 6–0.
Council members authorized payment of 24 accounts payable totaling $37,096.03 and reviewed a finance report showing $4,336,895.91 in the city account. "Alderman Elliott made a motion to authorize the payments of 24 accounts payable in the amount of $37,096.03," the minutes state. The Finance Committee also recommended approval of budgets for Forestry, Garbage, Park, Insurance and Social Security, and the council approved those budgets by unanimous vote.
Separately, the council approved a Water & Sewer Committee recommendation to purchase a scale and screens for a combined $25,191 from the CIF Fund, and it waived bidding to allow construction of a gazebo at Stone House Park using an existing donation. The council also adopted Ordinance No. 2026-03-03, establishing temporary parking restrictions on designated snow‑removal routes, and approved the hire of a part‑time police officer at a starting rate of $25.00 per hour.
All recorded motions listed a 6–0 tally with the following sitting members voting in favor: Aldermen Doug Bergren, Amy Buss, Jeff Elliott, Paul Kaczmarski, Jeff Soenksen and Jody Wolber. The meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m.
