When providers asked whether large agencies should be capped to give smaller providers more opportunities, Angie from DSPD said the agency cannot place caps because 'people are able to choose among able and willing providers'—a requirement tied to the federal waiver.
Angie described an ongoing review of the ISO (Individualized Service Options) process intended to streamline selection and make it more objective by engaging support coordinators, families, people with lived experience and providers. 'The focus is on assuring the choice of people, and for the process to be as objective as possible,' she said. She emphasized that the department's priority is honoring the preferences of the people served and improving fairness of the selection process rather than imposing provider caps.
