Resident asks Cedarhurst to allow clinical psychotherapist practice in residential zones

During public comment Avi Benmordechai of 595 West Broadway asked the Board to expand the list of professions permitted to operate in a residential zone to include an LCSW so he can conduct clinical psychotherapy from his home. Mayor Benjamin Weinstock replied that the Board would listen to Mr. Benmordechai but could not take action at that meeting because an amendment to the Local Law would require a public hearing. The Mayor also noted there is a case pending before the Village Justice Court concerning a violation at 595 West Broadway and that "nothing said by the Board this evening would directly affect the disposition of the pending violation." The record does not show further Board direction or a decision to schedule a hearing on the request.
