The Board adopted Local Law 2026-03 on March 9, which adds a permitted use for a 'Children's Play Place' within the General Business District, subject to conditions. The adopted change (amending § 265-86) allows the use where it is contained within an approved building, provided it is not located on the ground floor of any building on Central Avenue or Cedarhurst Avenue and that on-site off-street parking complies with § 265-94 for new commercial buildings.
Trustee Israel Wasser moved to close the hearing and adopt the Local Law; Trustee Myrna Zisman seconded. The change is designed to permit indoor child-focused play facilities in appropriate commercial locations while steering them away from primary street-front ground-floor retail space and ensuring parking is addressed at the time of permit or development review.
