The Village of Cedarhurst on March 9 adopted Local Law 2026-02, which adds a definition to Chapter 265 (Zoning) for the term "Children's Play Place." The adopted definition specifies that the use is an indoor facility contained within an approved building intended primarily for recreational or developmental play for children, and that it excludes outdoor play areas, arcades, indoor sports simulators, and facilities primarily offering food service or retail that are not incidental to children's play.
The change provides clarity in the zoning code about what constitutes a Children's Play Place and sets the groundwork for permitting that use under subsequent zoning provisions. The minutes record that the public hearing was closed and the Local Law was adopted on motion of Trustee Israel Wasser, seconded by Trustee Myrna Zisman.
