The Rancho Palos Verdes City Council approved the name "PV Emergency Radio" for the city's new AM 1680 emergency station, City Manager Arm Ronan said.
"The station will be called PV Emergency Radio, and the winning name was selected from a community radio naming contest conducted in May and June," Ronan said. Earlier this year the city entered an MOU with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District to install and operate a low‑powered emergency station at Richcrest Intermediate School.
Ronan said the station is intended to provide emergency and evacuation information during disasters, extended power outages and other communication failures. The transcript presents the naming and the MOU as part of the council's broader public‑safety communications work.
