District facilities team outlines summer projects after fiber cut disrupts service

The district's plant facilities manager updated trustees on multiple summer projects and one service disruption stemming from external construction. "They accidentally hit our fiber optics, and I've been offline at Saringa for since last week," the facilities manager reported, and noted the district had the line back online that evening.
Beyond that incident, the manager described major work this summer: installation of roughly a dozen heat pumps at the high school, window replacement and frame work at Jefferson and Syringa, coating of hallways at Syringa with fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) to reduce damage and repainting, removal and resetting of skylights in the library, roof framing and membrane roofing work, and electrical conduit and transformer work to support new HVAC equipment. The updates included smaller classroom repairs and deep cleaning. Trustees asked clarifying questions about landscaping contracts and field irrigation; the manager said district contracts for lawn and edging are split between vendors and field projects are being phased.
