Allen County accepts $10,000 state waste-tire recycling grant

The Allen County Board of Commissioners voted 3-0 on May 29 to accept a $10,000 Waste Tire Management Grant from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management for the Allen County Department of Environmental Management.
ACDEM Director Stacie Hubbert presented the grant as a renewal that will help defray the cost of transporting collected tires from county highway, health department, and recycling events to a recycling center. "The grant helps defray the cost of sending truckloads of collected tires to a recycling center," Hubbert said. Commissioner Ronald W. Turpin moved to accept the grant and Commissioner Therese M. Brown seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The funding is intended to reduce disposal costs for county-collected tires and support continued recycling events and interdepartmental collections. The board did not attach conditions to the acceptance and recorded the approval as part of the day's legislative actions.
