Town board hears variance request for 9647 Lakeshore Drive, applicant proposes holding tank sized for four bedrooms

The town board opened a public hearing on a wastewater-system variance application for the property at 9647 Lakeshore Drive, which meeting materials and the applicant's engineer identified as associated with Howard Tichner. The Supervisor asked the applicant’s engineer to summarize the proposal and public comment was invited.

Engineer Kyle Holmes told the board the existing on-site wastewater system appears largely within the state Department of Transportation right-of-way and that, because of slope and limited space, his client is proposing a holding tank sized for a total of four bedrooms — three in the existing residence and a single-bedroom efficiency above the garage. "The holding tank would be sized for a total of 4 bedrooms," Holmes said, and he described two variances the applicant is seeking: board approval to use a holding tank and relief for surface drainage located immediately in the tank area.

Holmes said a pump station located in the residence crawl space will be replaced as part of work on the property and that a prior Lake George Park Commission inspection identified deficiencies the proposed work aims to remedy. The Supervisor read a Cedarwood recommendation that, if the plan is approved, the applicant must submit stamped as-built drawings when construction is completed and install an exterior measuring device to monitor tank level separate from the alarm system, citing code "132-11G."
