Rosie Escobar, community planner, described the project as a site‑specific, building‑attached sculpture: “The proposed sculpture consists of a dinosaur holding a cluster of bananas,” she said, explaining the piece was refurbished from the Cox Science Center and Aquarium and is intended to complement the bar’s name and collection of memorabilia. Staff concluded the installation complies with the city’s sculpture and community appearance standards and recommended approval with conditions in the staff report.
Applicant Louie Stout, who said he co‑owns the bar, told the board the sculpture is an attraction that the neighborhood likes. The board moved to approve PZB project 260000010 with the conditions noted by staff; the motion passed on a voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The installation will proceed under a building permit and any future change to the sculpture will require a revision to the permit, staff said.
