Hague seeks to be included in future PILOT agreements with Ticonderoga, cites school-tax impacts

Speaker 2 said pilot agreements can reduce local school-tax revenue and that school-district approval is required because such agreements affect school taxes. He described prior disagreements with Ticonderoga over inclusion in negotiations and said Hague will seek collaboration going forward. "In light of the foregoing, it is hereby resolved that the town of Hague will coordinate and collaborate with the supervisor of the town of Ticonderoga… when entering into any and all pilot agreements," the resolution reads.
Board members discussed options including continued outreach and scheduled meetings with Ticonderoga leadership; litigation was mentioned as possible but expensive and not the preferred route. The board also referenced comments Hague submitted to the Rockefeller Institute and the state's “30 by 30” planning effort in the context of broader advocacy for rural school funding.
