Board approves septic holding-tank variance for Lakeshore Drive property with conditions

The Hague Town Board voted to approve a septic variance allowing the use of a holding tank at 9685 Lakeshore Drive to replace a failing septic system.
Tom Jarrett of RU Holmes Engineers told the board the house’s limited use makes a holding tank a practical alternative to a full leachfield system at present. “The very limited use of the house… a holding tank was practical for them as opposed to trying to put in a wastewater system,” Jarrett said, adding the town could require conversion if the property’s use changes.
Chair (speaker 3) moved to approve the request with four conditions referenced in the Cedarwood letter dated 09/06/2024; the board voted in favor. The board discussed conditioning the approval as temporary with a requirement to remove the holding tank should a future septic system be installed. The public-hearing notice in the record cited Town code 132-11 E and C and variance 18-24.
The decision formalizes the applicant’s request to use a holding tank in place of the failing septic; the board said records for the project are available at the Hague Community Center for public review. The board closed the public hearing and entered the variance into the public record.
