Council approves fee, compensation and procurement resolutions; makes committee appointments

The Smithville Board of Aldermen approved a series of resolutions and appointments during the meeting, ranging from updates to the city’s fee schedule and employee compensation plan to procurement awards and committee appointments.
Council approved Res.15-20 amending the schedule of fees and Res.15-21 updating the employee compensation plan. Res.15-22 awarded bid 25-14 for a utility rate study and Res.15-23 awarded bid 25-15 for solid-waste services for city facilities. The board also approved Res.15-24, the Commercial Street sidewalk project takeover agreement, and Res.15-25, the final plat for Smithfield Marketplace. Each resolution was approved on a voice vote; councilors then confirmed several mayoral appointments by roll call. The mayor appointed Doug Circione, Richard Easley and Harris Moore to the Public Safety Sales Tax Review Committee and reappointed John Shevler and appointed Deb Dodson to the Planning & Zoning Commission; each appointment passed unanimously.
Council members said the procurement awards and appointments are part of routine city operations to keep projects and oversight bodies functioning. The newly formed citizen review committee will meet twice a year to monitor the public-safety sales tax fund created earlier in the meeting.
