Fayette County commissioners adopted a resolution on June 8 granting a petition for regular annexation under Ohio Revised Code 709.02 for approximately 490.860 acres of territory in Jefferson Township to the Village of Jeffersonville. The petition was filed March 12, 2026, included legal descriptions and exhibits, and the minutes record statutory steps including notice to governmental bodies, affidavit of mailing to affected property owners, publication and a municipal statement of services from the Village of Jeffersonville. The county engineer concluded the legal description and plat are legally sufficient.
The resolution notes the territory shares approximately 8,633.57 feet of contiguous boundary with the village (about 30% contiguity), follows transportation and infrastructure corridors and that, on balance, the annexation will serve the general good of the territory proposed to be annexed. The board directed the clerk to refund any excess funds on deposit to the petition agent and to submit the annexation record to the county clerk. The motion was introduced by Commissioner Tony Anderson, seconded by Commissioner Donald L. Fleak and carried by roll call (Garland, Anderson, Fleak aye).
