Warming-room design debated; firewall rules limit full opening to arena

A crucial constraint is a required firewall: the Presenter explained that the addition must maintain a firewall or use fire doors/shutters to meet code, and that the firewall limits options for simply knocking out the separating wall to create a single large space. That structural and life-safety requirement was repeatedly identified as a design constraint that will shape glazing, door placement and whether the warming room is rebuilt or left as an alternate.
Town leaders concluded the warming-room option is important to many users and recommended the design include it as an alternate so the town can evaluate cost versus function once bids and grant opportunities are clearer.
