"Part of our investigation as part of the project, when we get into the full design is to figure out the existing building systems," the Presenter said, explaining the work needed to locate buried utilities. He added that some site budget could be allocated to new utility connections from the street and that a gravity sewer connection is preferred to avoid pumping.
On site improvements, the presenter recommended at minimum milling and top-coating the existing parking lot, adding sidewalks across the lot for safety, and removing asphalt against the building to beautify that slope. He noted a collapsed or dedicated storm line near the parking area has not been scoped but could be included as part of the project if the town chooses to add that work.
Committee members asked for follow-up on specific waterline freeze points and agreed site-work scope and parking improvements should be incorporated into the bid documents if the town wants to perform portions of the work using town crews.
