County staff read the recommended allocations for the county's outside-agency budget, and the board said it would keep most awards at last year's amounts given uncertainty over state revenue.
The list included ARC at $30,000; Suwannee County Chamber of Commerce $25,000; Vivid Visions $38,000; Suwannee Valley 4C $7,500; Police Athletic League $9,000; McAlpine Community Club $3,500; Historical Commission $12,000; and several smaller awards between $2,500 and $3,500. The chair said the board had "consensus amongst the board to keep them the same except for fishing for heroes, which will be reduced to $3,000 for a total of a $145,000 total."
Staff also confirmed that agencies must submit a request and an annual financial statement documenting how previous funds were spent before payments are processed. The board invited agency representatives to speak briefly during the workshop; several organizations thanked the commissioners for prior-year support and described planned uses of funds, from building maintenance to educational programming.
