The Sedgwick County Board of Bids and Contracts voted to award contract R-175, a crack‑seal project covering about 75 miles of county roads, to Conspec Incorporated doing business as Kansas Paving for $628,082.32. Britt Rosencutter, speaking for Purchasing, recommended the award "to accept the low qualified bid from Conspec Incorporated doing business as Kansas Paving in the amount of $628,082.32."
Public Works’ Lynn Packer said the county’s highway and bridge contractors are typically required to hold Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) prequalification, explaining that the requirement demonstrates financial stability and the ability to perform the work. "All of our contractors on our highways and bridges are required to be, KDOT prequalified," Packer said. Purchasing also read the engineer's estimate for the job as $724,039.90.
After brief questions about KDOT prequalification and project scope, the board moved, seconded and adopted the recommendation in a roll-call vote. The board did not amend the award; staff will proceed with contract execution subject to standard procurement conditions and available funding.
