The Jerseyville City Council unanimously approved a $2,000 tourism grant application from Jr. Panthers Athletics to support a three-on-three basketball tournament at Jersey Community High School. Commissioner Steve Pohlman moved the grant and Commissioner John Miles seconded; the council recorded a unanimous roll call vote in favor.
Steven Goetten, who spoke to the council on behalf of the event organizers, said "there were 146 athletes that participated last year for the first time being offered" and noted the event date was changed from Feb. 28 to March 1. The grant supports local youth sports and associated tourism activity; no additional funding breakdown or conditions were recorded in the meeting minutes.
