Board approves corrected 2024–25 budget resolution to balance interfund transfers

The Klamath Falls City Schools Board of Education on Oct. 13 approved an amended 2024–25 budget resolution that corrected a clerical imbalance between interfund transfer revenues and expenditures identified by the Oregon Department of Education.
Director of Operations Daymond Monteith told the board the adjustment was procedural: it redistributes accounting figures so that transfers between funds (for example, the General Fund and the Capital Improvement Fund) balance as required. Monteith said the amendment "does not change the overall budget total or affect program or staffing allocations" and must be resubmitted to ODE for compliance.
Vanessa Bennett moved to adopt the amended budget resolution and Trina Perez seconded. Chair Andrew Biggs called for a vote; Board Members Trina Perez, Andrew Biggs, Nicole Trejo, Vanessa Bennett and Kathy Hewitt voted in the affirmative and the motion carried unanimously. The board recorded no dissenting votes.
The board framed the change as an administrative correction rather than a policy shift. Monteith noted the district will continue to monitor budget forecasts through the spring and will raise concerns if the approximate $200,000 shortfall identified in early projections persists.
