Register of Deeds expands property‑fraud alerts, veteran document services and in‑county passport acceptance

Chief Deputy Kimberly Ziering told commissioners the upgraded system improves the county's ability to alert residents about recordings in their name and to offer alerts by email, text or phone. "This enhanced service now offers more ways to keep our residents informed," she said, adding that alerts previously were email‑only.
Ziering also described a veteran/military document service in which veterans can file DD‑214 discharge papers with the office for safekeeping and receive five free certified copies. She noted the county operates a passport acceptance facility at the East Kellogg TAC office that handles applications, photos and expedited processing; staff said the passport service both serves residents and generates modest revenue for Sedgwick County.
County communications staff encouraged residents to resubscribe to the property‑alert service to benefit from the enhanced protections and recommended in‑person help is available at county locations for people who need assistance navigating the new system.
