Board approves 180 nonresident student transfer requests; 26 applications denied

Doctor Saint John presented a recommendation to approve 180 nonresident student transfer requests for the 2627 school year, saying the district "has reviewed each request and verified that all transfers meet the eligibility criteria established in our board policy governing nonresident student transfers." He told the board the requests were being presented as required by policy and were scheduled for approval at the first regular August meeting.
During questions, board member Mister Mills asked about how many applicants had been turned down; Saint John said 26 applications were denied for a range of reasons including capacity limits and policy criteria such as behavior or attendance. The board moved and approved the transfers by voice vote.
