Will (William) Strang, identified in the meeting as Director of Tourism and Economic Development, summarized the program: six large commercial façade grants at up to $25,000 each; five small commercial façade grants at up to $5,000 each; four commercial roof grants at $25,000 each; four commercial sprinkler system grants at $25,000 each; and four commercial environmental remediation grants at $25,000 each. The council approved the program on a voice roll call with all members voting aye.
The program, recommended by the Tax Increment Finance Advisory Board, is intended to support façade improvements, roofing, fire-suppression upgrades and environmental remediation projects for eligible commercial properties within the city’s TIF area. Councilmembers did not amend the grant counts or maximums during the motion that passed at the Feb. 18 meeting.
The approval authorizes staff and the advisory board to proceed with grant administration under the stated limits. The council did not specify application deadlines in the meeting minutes; interested property owners should contact city economic development staff for program details and timing.
